Dr. Drob is available to conduct forensic psychological evaluations in a number of areas of criminal law. His criminal forensic work typically involves several or all of the following: comprehensive psychological interviews and mental status examinations, the administration and interpretation of intelligence, cognitive and personality tests,  review of case materials and educational and mental health records, interviews with collateral sources, consultations with counsel and other experts, and (when necessary) courtroom testimony.  Dr. Drob has conducted evaluations in the following areas:

  1. Mental State at Time of Offense, e.g. Insanity and issues relevant to mens rea.

  3. Extreme Emotional Disturbance
  4. Criminal Negligence, Recklessness, Intentional Murder, Depraved Indifference
  5. Competency to Stand Trial
  6. Waiver of Miranda Rights
  7. False Confessions
  8. Suggestibility and Coercion
  9. Juvenile vs. Adult Adjudication
  10. Dangerousness
  11. Pre-sentencing
  12. Capital Punishment, including Atkins (intellectual disability)  and mitigation issues.

Courtroom Qualifications and Experience

Dr. Drob has been qualified as an expert witness in Clinical and Forensic Psychology in the following local jurisdictions and in courts in several states outside of New York:

Federal District Court: Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.

New York State Supreme Court: Manhattan, Kings, Queen, Bronx, Staten Island,

Nassau and Broome counties.

Dr. Drob has conducted well over 1000 forensic psychological evaluations and testified in court on over 90 occasions.
